Favourite Chinese Dishes
Here is a list of some of the most popular Chinese dishes:
Dim Sum - These famous Chinese snacks originated in Guanhzhou (Canton) a region of Southern China. Dim sum are small Chinese parcels which may be filled with a variety of fillings, steamed or fried and served with a dipping sauce.
Szechuan Beef - Rich and spicy, usually containing chillies, dark soy sauce and tabasco from the Szechhuan and Shanghai regions. Szechhuan dishes are typically served on a bed of rice.
Peking Duck - Deep fried duck coated in light egg white batters. Pekinese dishes are especially simple to prepare, varied and very elegant.
Kung Po Chicken - Hot and spicy, and laden with either cashew nuts, walnuts, peanuts or almonds, creating a crunchy texture when eaten.
Scallops in Ginger Sauce - Succulent scallops cooked with ginger and orange. This dish is ideally served with plain rice. The scallops can be substituted with chicken or prawns.
